Does Acupuncture Hurt & What Is a Typical Session Like?
A lot of people have a fear of needles. This is understandable as getting blood drawn or having injections can be painful. Acupuncture does not feel like this! The needles are much smaller. In fact, you can fit up to seven of them inside a standard hypodermic needle used for blood draws!
That being said, there is sensation involoved with acupuncture. If you've ever had a massage from a deep tissue therapist, you'll know that getting in the "stuck" areas doesn't always feel great. It does however, greatly help your body heal. In some ways, the feeling of acupuncuture can be similar.
Rest assured, Dr. Laux has worked with many patients who have a fear of needles and your fear of needles will not prevent you from having an effective treatment. He is proud to report that most of them feel so much benefit they become regular clients.
Before any session is given, a detailed health history is taken. This is because no matter the condition, acupuncuture is most effective when the root cause of imbalance is identified and treated.
